Fees and Fee Policy:
HST Exemption for Psychotherapy and Counselling Services:
On June 20, 2024, the Government of Canada passed Bill C-59, An Act to Implement Certain Provisions to the Fall Economic Statement, that removes the GST on counselling therapy and psychotherapy services in provinces that regulate the profession . As of June 21, 2024, my psychotherapy fees are HST Exempt and were adjusted accordingly.
As of April 1, 2025
The Fee for a 60 minute session is $148.
A 60 minute session includes the time for rebooking and payment.
The Low-Income Fee is $110.*Limited availability. Upon application and with proof of income status for those with a gross household annual income of $60,000 or less before tax.
*Proof of income: To apply to for the Low-Income Fee, proof of income is required. This includes an income tax return for the previous available year or pay stubs for all earning and contributing family members in the household and/or a signed statement/declaration that all income was included.
**Low-Income Fee: If you feel that the regular fee is not affordable for you, the Low-Income Fee may apply. If you are uncertain if you qualify for the low-income fee, please contact me. I will be happy to discuss your options with you.
The application of the Low-Income Fee for personal therapy is dependent on your gross family income. Family income is the combined income of all earning family members living in your household. If you feel that your situation presents a unique challenge (e.g. large number of dependents, illness, training / education, etc.), and you would like to discuss a possible exception, please contact me.
The applicability of the low-income fee for individual psychotherapy will be reviewed by us every six months. If your financial situation changes dramatically at any time, it is your responsibility to inform me so that together we can decide if the Low-Income Fee should continue to be granted to you at that time.
At any given time, I have availability for up up to two Low-Income Fee clients for psychotherapy. If I have a Low-Income Fee spot available, we can discuss working together. Some conditions apply:
- Gross family income from all sources of less than $60,000 per year;
- Your dedication to the process. For example, if there are more than three late cancellations or no-shows, the agreement will be cancelled;
- Availability (I have only two spaces available at any given time);
- Low-Income Fee arrangements are reviewed at six months.
Extended Health Care Insurance Services may be covered in full or in part by your extended health care insurance provider. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health care insurance benefits?
- Is Registered Psychotherapy covered by my plan?
- What is the annual maximum available?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Payment
E-mail transfer or cash is accepted for payment.
Cancellations and Refunds
To maximize the effectiveness of your psychotherapeutic services, it is recommended to make counselling a priority and to not cancel sessions except in cases of illness or emergency.
Please note that clinical time has been reserved specifically for you and that 48 business hours in advance of your appointment is required to cancel or reschedule your appointment. With this notice, you will not be charged your regular session fee.
Thank you for respecting our appointment time.
In case of cancellation with less than 24 hours notice, I will attempt to fill the time slot from a cancellation list. If this is successful, I will not charge for the cancelled session.
Should I not be able to fill the time slot, I will charge the full fee for the cancelled session and consider it due within one week of the originally scheduled session.
If you do not present for a mutually agreed upon scheduled session, the session fee is due in full within one week of the originally scheduled session.
