Clinical Supervision and Consultation

I offer individual clinical supervision, professional clinical consultation and clinical consultation mentoring.

I am a psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in private practice.   Since 2015, I have been registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #003119).

I believe that clinical supervision and consultation is an important ingredient in offering excellence in clinical care.  Regular consultation, in my view, allows the opportunity for clinicians to reflect, examine and receive feedback on questions such as, ethics, practice standards, professional boundaries, transference and countertransference, treatment formulations, interventions and strategies.  Earlier this year, I completed the 30-hour training to become a Clinical Relational Supervisor and now offer individual supervision in compliance with the current requirement for supervision by the CRPO and several professional associations.

My approach to clinical supervision, professional clinical consultation and clinical consultation mentoring is relational, collaborative and integrative.

My expertise includes integrating psychospiritual, psychodynamic and experiential modalities and interventions such as sound therapy, meditation and clinical counselling hypnotherapy.

If you are interested in clinical supervision, professional clinical consultation or clinical consultation mentoring, I invite you to a complimentary first meeting of about 15 minutes or so.  This is an opportunity to see if we have a fit for working together and should we wish to continue, to develop our supervision contract or consultation agreement.  This meeting and any subsequent meetings may be held in person, in Stratford, or online.

Consultation

Professional Clinical Consultations

I have always found it valuable and important to safe and ethical practice to consult about issues arising in clinical practice.  Professional clinical consultations offer the opportunity to dedicate time and focus to reflect and to receive support for client work or practice issues.

Consultations are one-hour and available in-person or online, by appointment only.

As an independent practitioner seeking professional clinical consultation, you decide on the frequency of consultations.  As you are self-reporting, it is your choice to write separate reports or report on each client.  You will receive support with implementing new tools or exploring a new approach.  You may consult on clinical or practice issues.  You will have an open-ended agreement.

Sessions offer the opportunity to dedicate time and focus to:

  • Reflect on client and practice work,
  • Enhance understanding in implementing modalities and approaches,
  • Recognize or clarify formulations for your client’s issue(s),
  • Identify possible projection and transference,
  • Explore possible blocks and triggers or countertransference,
  • Develop treatment strategies, interventions and possible tools,
  • Examine possible biases,
  • Establish appropriate professional boundaries,
  • Review practice standard guidelines,
  • Discuss possible ethical considerations.

Individual Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision begins with developing an agreement.  The details in this agreement or contract is formulated based on discussions of individual needs and training requirements.  It is revisited regularly and outlines:

  • Therapeutic approach or model of supervision used,
  • Goals or purpose of clinical supervision,
  • Responsibilities of clinical supervisor and supervisee.
  • Supervision format (individual); modalities of treatment to be supervised, special areas of attention,
  • Method of reviewing supervisee’s clinical work,
  • Meeting arrangements (physical location or online platform, frequency, duration, or number of supervision hours requested, cancellations, emergencies, fees, if and when applicable,
  • Expectations regarding the sharing of client information and informing clients about clinical supervision,
  • Provisions regarding the confidentiality of information shared between clinical supervisor and supervisee,
  • Fees for clinical supervision services,
  • Processes for providing evaluation and feedback, emergency or off-schedule contact between supervisor and supervisee, resolving conflicts, renewing or terminating the agreement.

Clinical supervision is offered for one-hour, in-person or online and by appointment only.   Sessions similarly offer the opportunity to dedicate time and focus to:

  • Reflect on client and practice work
  • Enhance understanding in implementing modalities and approaches
  • Recognize or clarify formulations for your client’s issue(s)
  • Identify possible projection and transference
  • Explore possible blocks and triggers or countertransference
  • Develop treatment strategies, interventions and possible tools
  • Examine possible biases
  • Establish appropriate professional boundaries
  • Review practice standard guidelines
  • Discuss possible ethical considerations.
